Terrafirma Natural Blushing Minerals blush in Antoinette

A while ago, I had a haul from Terrafirma Cosmetics (not an affiliate link).  One of the items I picked up was a sample of one of the Radiance Glowing Mineral Blush in Antionette.  

I'm going to take a moment here to say how much I love  that Terrafirma offers sample sizes of most of their products.  I have plunking over the cash to buy a full size of a product without having seen it in person.  And Terrafirma doesn't skimp on the size.  It's a good size sample and definitely enough product to be able to really try out the product before committing to a full size.

Antionette is described as a "warm coral".  Personally, I don't think there's much coral about it.  I think it reads pretty straight up peachy.  That said, it's a gorgeous color.  It has good pigmentation and staying power and despite being one of their Radiance blushes, it wasn't overly shimmery.

I swatched it next to Milani Luminoso because that is another blush in my collection that most closely resembles Terrafirma's Antionette.  The colors are very similar, however, Antionette is not as shimmery as Luminoso (thankfully, as far as I'm concerned).  Antionette and Luminoso are both mineral blushes.  The biggest difference is that Antionette is loose and Luminoso is pressed.

I also swatched Antionette next to Milani's Corralina so you can see just how not-coral Antionette is.

Overall, I was really impressed with the blush.  I think it's a beautiful color.  It performed well and it has a great price point ($12.99 for 20g volume/4g wt).  As I mentioned, I just picked up the sample size, which is $3.50.  As a general rule, I'm not a big fan of loose mineral blushes, but the colors and finish on the Terrafirma blushes is definitely impressive enough for me to use them often.

Another thing is that Terrafirma often runs sales, so if you're interested at all, I would encourage you to sign up for their emails.

Overall:  8/10 (just because it's a loose powder).

Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush in Candy Glow

Yet another tongue twister, here is the Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush in Candy Glow by Too Faced.  It is a mineral blush with three distinct color stripes that can be worn individually, or swirled together.  

This blush released with the Too Face Boudoir Beauty collection for Spring 2013.  I do not believe that it is a permanent product.  I fell in love with this when I first saw pictures in early 2013 and it sat on my wishlist for a very long time.  However, during one of Ulta's 20% off sales, I went ahead and picked it up.

The colors from left to right are a bright blue-based berry pink, a warm yellow-based neutral pink and a warm shimmery peach.  The colors can also be swirled together.  The resulting color looks very similar to the middle color in my opinion.

I am not crazy about the packaging.  It is cute, that's for sure.  But it's cardboard and foil and it's just not particularly resilient or easy to stack in a makeup drawer.

This is my first blush from Too Faced and overall, I am very impressed with it.  It isn't my favorite blush ever, but it has good pigmentation and wear time.  The colors are very true to pan.  The stripes are large enough to be used individually, but the colors when swirled together are also quite lovely.

This blush contains 5.3 grams of product and retails for $29 while supplies last where Too Faced is sold.

Maybelline Limited Edition Blush in Golden Fuse

I already mentioned the Maybelline blush in Golden Fuse when I did my review of MAC's Warm Soul blush.  Golden Fuse is a Limited Edition blush with Maybelline's Summer 2013 collection, So Electric.

This baked blush is a warm golden bronzy pink with lots of gold shimmer.  I don't think it swatches anywhere near as orange as it looks in the pan.  It has a surprising amount of pink.

This blush is a solid performer.  It had a nice texture and blended out easily.  It had good staying power - 6 hours before it started to fade, 8 hours before it faded significantly.  It's a beautiful warm color, perfect for summer.  It does have a lot of shimmer, so if you don't like that, you may want to steer clear.

This blush is not an exact dupe for MAC's Warm Soul, but I think it's probably as close as you're going to get at the drugstore in terms of both color and texture.

Maybelline's Golden Fuse blush contains 2.5 grams of product and retails for around $5 wherever Maybelline is sold.

MAC Warm Soul Mineralize Blush

Warm Soul is one of those blushes that everyone seems to love.  I have been hearing people rave about it forever.  I do love me some blush and despite being rather cool toned, I am not crazy about wearing cool toned blushes.  So, obviously, I needed to pick up Warm Soul.

Look at it.  It's beautiful.  This is one of those cases of the hype being true.  This is a gorgeous warm coppery pink color with gold shimmer.  It could be used as a blush or a bronzer.  I am in LOVE with this blush.  It is fantastic and it is an absolute staple for me.

It's a Mineralize baked blush with great payoff and a lovely texture.  I found it blended out easily, but it also has great staying power.  I got a solid 9 hours out of it before it started to fade noticeably.

The MAC Mineralize blushes all contain 3.5 grams of product and retail (currently) for $25.

Overall:  10/10

Oh, and for what it's worth, I also happened to pick up a Maybelline LE baked blush the same week that is pretty similar (review forthcoming).  

The Maybelline blush is called Golden Fuse and it's part of their Summer 2013 So Electric collection.  It's a tad bit more golden and shimmery, but it's really pretty close and it's 2.5 grams of product for around $5.

Review: Milani Baked Blush in 01 Dolce Pink

Described appropriately by Milani as "pink shimmer", 01 Dolce Pink Baked Blush is certainly both.

Dolce Pink is a medium champagne-y pink with a TON of gold glitter.  Seriously.  This blush is super heavy on the gold glitter.  I found it a bit of a challenge to get the pink to really show up without it being incredibly glittery and having tons of fallout everywhere.  The gold glitter in the product is far more prominent than the pink color.  Sheered out, you pretty much lose the pink and are left with the glitter.

I do certainly have a soft spot for the Milani Baked Blushes.  At this price point and with the amount of product that you get, they're a fantastic deal.  However, depending on how you feel about glitter bombs, this may or may not be the product for you.

For me, it is mostly a miss.  I do think that it would probably work better as a highlighter than as a blush.

Review: bareMinerals blush in Beauty

So this product is an oldie but a goodie, the bareMinerals blush in beauty.  Bare minerals describes the color as "blushed pink".  Helpful description, huh?  SIGH.  Also, the swatch on the company website looks absolutely nothing like this color to me.

When I first got back into makeup after a very long hiatus, bareMinerals was the first line I used.  At this point, I am pretty much over bareMinerals.  I have learned through trial and error that I am not a fan of loose shadows and I rarely use pigments.  Even after trying out their new pressed eyeshadow quads, I'm really not impressed.

The one exception to this is their blush line.  I feel like it is well established at this point that I have a blush problem.  I love them.  Loose blushes, pressed blushes, cream blushes, matte blushes, shimmery blushes, I love them all.  And the bareMinerals blush in beauty is no exception.  This is the one bareMinerals item that I still use and have recently repurchased.

  

I don't really know what "blushed pink" is supposed to look like, but to me Beauty is a yellow-based pink blush.  It has a slightly dusty tinge to it, similar to MAC's Pink Tea.  (For the record, Sephora describes the color as "sweetheart rose" which I find to be a much more apt description.)

The pigmentation is good.  It applies easily and wears for a good 6 hours before it starts to fade.  It's not completely matte.  There is a bit of a sheen to it, but it's definitely not glittery or frosty.

Because of its dusty tinge, I think this is probably only going to really work on lighter skintones.  I think on medium to dark skintones it's probably going to turn ashy.

The only downside for me is that it is loose, however that's not a huge problem for me because I do really love this color.

Also, this is the only loose blush I have so I guess I'm really not familiar with how much product is standard.  This packaging contains .85grams of product and retails for $19.  Compare that with a standard MAC pressed blush that contains 6 grams of product and has a very similar price point.

Overall:  7/10
