Beauty.com Erin Fetherston traincase with samples

I am SOOO sorry for not getting this posted before the promo stopped.  I was trying my hardest to get it posted last week and it just didn't happen.  That said, beauty.com regularly runs promos like this and when you see them, you do need to snap them up because they go quickly.

The promo that beauty.com was running was with every $100 worth of purchases from beauty.com, you could get the Erin Fetherston Traincase filled with deluxe samples for free.  The purchases did need to be from beauty.com and NOT drugstore.com though the sites are closely linked and share a shopping cart.  Only purchases from beauty.com qualified you for the free traincase.  Other promos could also be stacked with the traincase.

I don't know how you guys feel about samples.  I LOVE them.  I hate buying product without sampling it first.  I can't tell you how many times I've been burned on expensive skincare items when I know I could have saved myself the heartache and money if I'd just had a sample first.  At this point, I'm really not buying anything high end without sampling first.  So while the traincase was cute, I was far more interested in the samples inside.

I was planning to buy a couple of things that totaled to $100 anyway and when beauty.com had the items that were backordered at other retailers (Ulta) or simply unavailable (Sephora), I decided to go ahead and make the purchase.

EBATES regularly offers 6% back on beauty.com and drugstore.com purchases, though earlier this month, they were offering 10% back.  MrRebates regularly offers 8% back on beauty.com, but earlier this month, they were offering 12% back.  In addition, every purchase though drugstore.com and beauty.com earns you 5% back in drugstore.com dollars which are redeemable quarterly.  Their next redemption period is in April.

The traincase itself is cute.  I think it's cuter open than when it's closed.  I think the big leather flap in front is a little unfortunate.  It reminds me of Squidward's nose from the SpongeBob cartoon.  In all honestly, I don't have much of a use for the traincase, so it will probably go into a giveaway soon.
But open, it's much prettier!
And even better filled with samples!

I'm trying to group the samples into logical categories, so first up is the cosmetics category.
  • BareMinerals Pretty Amazing Lipcolor sample in Bravado
  • Stila FULL SIZE Eye Shadow in Cloud
  • Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Foundation Primer
  • Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm in Nude Glow

next, the skincare category
  • Crabtree & Evelyn Avacado Oil and Basil Skin Revitalizing Body Lotion
  • Boscia Oil Free Nightly Hydration
  • H20  Face Oasis Hydrating Treatment
  • Murad Acne Clarifying Mask
  • Jane Iredale Tantasia
  • Bulgari Refreshing Towel

and now, the hair care and misc
  • Traditions by Nick Chavez Yucca Root Shampooing Cream
  • Alterna Bamboo Boho Waves Tousled Texture Mist
  • Supersmile Whitening Introductory Kit

and last but not least, a coupon for $10 off a $50 beauty.com order

On my order, in addition to the purchases I made and the traincase, I also added a promo code for a free Perricone M.D. No Foundation Foundation deluxe sample which also included a sample of the Perricone Cold Fusion.

So what do you guys think?  Worth it or not?  Personally, I think it's well worth it.  I can't wait to try out these products and I couldn't be happier with beauty.com

  2. haha wow this must be like christmas morning with all these goodies to watch, and open, and rearrange.... now i want to go crazy shopping as well!
i haven't given the sample idea very much thought since i either take it for a win or lose situation, or if i'm really keen on one product i look it up as much as i can before buying it!
though i wouldn't say no to the photofinish primer or anything so lovely in a tiny package.
why is it that we love the tiny packages? i'm so weak for them.

and oh btw, we'll see what we can do about those cookies....;)

    and have a nice day!!!/Azure

    1. The tiny packages suck me in every time too. I just can't resist them. I totally have a problem with samples. I should probably just own up to it. Admitting you have a problem is the first step. LOL!

And comments are definitely accepted in lieu of cookies ;)
